Discovered in May, disclosed in November
An officer inspecting a container at the Maasvlakte customs inspection warehouse in May questioned the cards’ authenticity. A customs counterfeit specialist compared them with a genuine Pokémon card. According to the agency, the seized cards lacked references to the trademark holder and differed in colour, paper and imagery.
Customs said the trademark holder subsequently confirmed that the cards were counterfeit, and that all of the cards have been destroyed. The agency explained that it could disclose the case only after confirmation and destruction. Its statement does not identify the trademark holder by name or give the precise date of destruction.
